The Transition: From Job to No Job

Welcome to one of the toughest times in your professional career

You have lost your job, quit, got fired or got let go...

So now what?

Get all those emotions out ... Cry, Laugh, Celebrate, and Party because..

we will all find ourselves with NO JOB

This is the reality for many Americans.
They had great jobs and now they find themselves with No Job because they had to cut back positions or businesses simply went under.
So now your back in the Job Market

Unfortunately there is no jobs sites that are like dating site that just let your talents be presented and they just scoop you right up

There are several tools like:
  • LinkedIn
  • Facebook
  • Old Contacts from Previous Job
    • This is where most of us find our NEXT Job is from the contacts we made from our previous job or simply just an old job
      • To learn more about Building your Network: Click Here
To sum it up: Keep all relationships open at this time as your network will be your biggest friend as truly they possibly spark a new opportunity aka a New Job.

So How do we best prepare ourselves for the Transition?

First: Are you financially prepared for this speed bump?

If not, you may want to cut back on some speeding and have at least 3 months of saving in the bank.

Okay, I know I know, this sounds good on paper, but it is critical you got a back up plan.

I was blessed with a mom that made sure I drove it home

Second: Don't repeat the same mistakes you made at your last job

This is a great time to reflect and think of how you may have done better or could have changed to make it better/more professional or simply why you had been let go, why you may been unhappy and how you can change those things.

Third: Understand what it takes to be Hired in this job Market

To learn more about this, check out my previous post titled: Getting Hired

Fourth: Keep an open mind on the jobs you may come across

 and finally...

Stay Hungry (remind yourself on the end result and how things do happen for a reason)

Thank you for reading my blog.

  1. this is a great post, especially in today's economy where no job is secure. Staying positive and not letting yourself get defeated when looking for a job is a big part of trying to help stay sane and motivated. It's a tough world out there but like you said it's important to stay "hungry".
