With this Current Market, it is becoming increasing HARDER to find a job and get hired.
WHY you say?
Because now with many unemployed, there are many SKILLED workers seeking a job
So whats the trick to doing so?!!!
Lets Start with First things First....
Professional Resume
I know this sounds basic, but this is their first impression of you.
I know this sounds basic, but this is their first impression of you.
- Take the time to research several layouts that will fit your industry and/or experience
- personally my resume is 2 pages so I have a different layout than most
- Align all your text and bold the important points that set you apart
- Yes this works, looking at 100's of resumes, you need something to catch their eye
- Check for typo's/outdated information
- Gear your Resume for the position your applying for
- Tweak your description of your jobs to favor the position your applying for
- not suggesting lying here, but you can always gear it towards the position at hand
- Look the Part, Play the part
- Dress for success, spend that $200 on a nice suit that you can wear to interviews
- SHOES! Get a nice pair of dress shoes, don't stop at the suit, get the shoes
- For Ladies, Suit as well and nice heals
- Facial Hair
- Keep it clean, The Craig David line around your jaw line isn't very professional
- Cologne/Perfume
- A little odd topic, but smelling good is only a plus so before going in spray it up
Confidence
- Go into your interview with confidence
- There is a fine line between Cocky and Confidence
- Why is Confidence so Important?
- If you don't exude a certain level of confidence, how can the employer feel confident in hiring you for the position
- I.E. Sitting up straight, being vocal, Clear Answers, No UMMM's, BEING YOURSELF
Professionalism
- Writing a follow up email, thanking them for their time (thanks mom for this one :P)
- When reviewing your experience, never speaking bad of your past employers
- Try to limit the UMMMM's
- Try hard to stop your jittery leg from bouncing around
- Essentially Be Yourself
- Separate yourself with your Personality
- As Nelly said in his song "They only want me for my Pimp Juice"
- Make the employer want you for your personality and skills
Take-Away
- Be yourself
- Be professional
- Come prepared- learn about the company and shock em with knowledge
- Dress the Part
- Be Confident
- Follow up!
Hope you enjoy! Comment and let me know what you think.
