Where Businesses Go Wrong

Many companies are quick to point the finger to their employees when things go wrong, but they forget to look at their own company on making improvements.

Well, I have fortunately have worked for a lot of companies and... seen what truly makes an employee happy and what can make them lose their mind.


So really you want to know how to keep your good and productive employees HAPPY!

Well lets take a deeper look at what companies can do and where they went wrong

Positive reinforcement
  • It really is an age old philosophy that really can bring the spirits up in a business
  • We all want to be acknowledged for what we do and for working our ass off
    • We do not just want to be punished and get yelled at when things Go Wrong
Structure
  • providing your employees with a certain level of structure 
    • can guide them to know they are headed in the right direction 
  •  an understanding of what is to be done on a given day. 
    Cutting out the BS
    • Letting the employee know where they stand
      • if your unhappy with them, let them know, (We all our no longer in middle school)
    • Don't treat them like the in the 3rd Grade
      • too many managers treat their employees as though they never reached the 3rd grade, letting their power trip get the best of them
    • Check yourself at the door
      • Remembering we all breathe the same air and to leave that chip on your shoulder at the door
    • Remembering that no matter how big/small/ugly/pretty the employees are, they have lives and they have emotions.. Handle employees with candor
      They bring YOU money
      • Sales team get treated like 3rd party call centers, but really they bring in a majority of the revenue,
      • Treat them like their gold and they will bring in the big bucks
      Giving Back
      • give back to those employees that work around the clock to make sure your business is running seamlessly 
      Separate business/ Personal Life
      • Do not bring your drama from home.
        • We all don't need to know you did a joint yesterday or got so drunk you couldn't find your car. 
      Treat everyone with Respect
      • this is the old fashion coming out in me, but respect will get you along way
      • No matter what your position is with the company, respect will get you sooo far in life. 
        • we understand you make $$Millions$$, but your attitude doesn't need to reflect that of an asshole. 
      Spot a Cancerous Employee
      • Do not let one employee ruin the positive environment in the work place
        • Let them know where they stand and if they continue proceed to penalize them
      Really? You know everything...
      • the title explains it all. 
      • No one knows everything so LISTEN for a milli second and you may learn/see someone else's point of view.
      Don't be bad Relationship with baggage
      • No one is fond of baggage, whether at home or at work
      • Do not let your past employees ruin/dictact the current relationships you have with your employees
        • Not every employee is a sour employee
