The True Value of a Sales Team
We all prompt the question whether is true value into sales and if sales teams are under/over valued..?
So to truly see where a Sales Team fits in a company you must break down your average company.
You have:
Accounts Deliverable/Receivable: Very Important as they make sure those credit cards don’t say DECLINED
Support Team: Keep your customers happy by fixing/answering an issues they may have w/ your product line
Sales Team: Brings in sales/ revenue and continues to drive interest into the company
Marketing Team: Drives in interest and continually finds new ways to reach a broader audience
**So there are the Barebones aka the Basics of a company
So the question you typically as yourself..
What can be automated?
For the most part a good portion of it can be automated. With the technology that is presented before us, therefore we are able to cut a good portion of these cost and not comprise quality.
So what can be automated?
Support: Yes, a good portion can be, but NOT once it becomes complex and technical
Accounting: Most definitely, software and cloud based platforms allow you to have recurring billing and etc..
Sales Teams: Not particularly, but Shockey Monkeys Service Manager may prove me wrong, as well as Amazon
Marketing Team: Absolutely not, these thoughts are original and add so much “unseen” value to your company
So why are Sales and Marketing so important?
Sales Teams bring in the interest dollars and overall keep the balance of a business.
Let me break that down…
To have a functional business you must:
- Maximize your dollar
- Reduce/Maintain Overhead
- Bring in Revenue
- Balance Cash flows
So the Sales Team keeps the balance of a business by balancing out the cash flows and hopefully at some point exceeding the cash flows equilibrium.
Essentially, bringing in more revenue($$) then the customers that are actively cutting back(-X) their services or simply removing it altogether(0).
The Marketing team fits into this equation by:
- bringing in new clientele with their marketing campaigns
- creative appeal to draw in broader markets
- trigger a common association/message/image with your company
So after looking at an overall business and the pieces that keep afloat, I would say a Sales Team is extremely valuable.
- They keep your business above the negative
- They continually bring in new business
- Drive in more revenue
- provide customer service
** a Good Sales Person also is good at the echo effect.
Turning someone who is not interested into a personal echo of what they just pitched.. aka selling their product for them. : )
So personally, I would keep your Sales and Marketing Team during this economic downturn and keep yourself above the negative.
