I was digging through some things this weekend and came across a book....
I was suppose to read in College.. Typically me.. just skimmed it
It was titled: DO YOU by Russell Simmons
The title alone reminded me how hard it is to truly DO YOU.
Most of us typically go through our day battling to fit in to our corporate environment and attempting to make others happy..
This is a battle I've had my entire life as, for the people who know me, know that I have quite the outgoing personality. To say the least, I am not shy and love to insert humor to lighten up the mood.
But I have learned that acting this way in the corporate world gives off the wrong impression( I may not take my job serious; I think life is one big joke; I should never be taken serious).
Which is not the case at all.
I say all that to say this, As you "Do You" make sure along the way your not giving off the wrong impression. I know personally, I probably give off the wrong impression everyday(not purposely). This is a struggle with Doing Me and still being found serious.
But within that battle,
" I ask myself, damn is changing really Doing Me??? Which is something a lot of us young /old folks ask.. Unfortunately, none of like looking in the mirror and saying.. " Damn Do I need to change this, or work on this? "
I know I personally want to be the person I can be, I do that quite often, but as we all know sometimes the implementation of it all takes a while.
But when you do look in the mirror and ask yourself those questions that your changing for the right reasons. Don't let people dictate how you live your life. We our all individuals and have our own way of doing things. Some people may not find it to be the right way, but thats the luxury of living in the US, we can be free to do things that we please(legal that is).
So at the end of the day, remember to DO YOU.
God Bless!

corporate world is not easy to tackle, especially when you try to be "different". You are just frowned upon, sad but true.
