| Selling Yourself Selling Yourself Now looking at the Blog Title, I ask everyone to keep their minds in the PG mind frame |
We are constantly in sales mode regardless if we are:
- buying clothes
- talking to our parents
- or working with new customers.
Take a stroll with me for a day and you will see that everyone I have ever interacted with knows me by name( whether good or bad) lol.
On a positive note...
I try to make everyone feel as though they are important and that I value their opinion. It truly goes a long way as people (usually complete strangers) will put their neck out there if something does happen to go wrong.
Your thinking yeah right? What did you pay them?
Nope sir/ma'am, Show everyone with respect they deserve and you never know what you will get on the back end. You would be surprised how many people are receptive to genuine compliments or intellectual conversation.Lets be honest....
Most of us want to be heard...
Therefore, providing an avenue for that person to be heard can really propel the level of respect the person shows you. They will entrust in you alot of information, sometimes too much information.
Regardless, the Key is to build relationships that way you're never a stranger to anyone. You can always count on someone to lend you a welcoming helping hand.
Life will be a lot easier if you have people helping you along the way.
So build relationships with everyone, give people a chance.
Most people right people off before even getting to know them. I have met some of the most amazing people on this planet from striking random conversations with individuals I would normally walk on by.
So the lesson of the day is:
**Build Relationships by Selling yourself in the right light and giving people a chance
I say the right light because you will have to present yourself in different ways depending on your audience.
i.e. How you would present yourself to a CEO to how you present yourself to one of your buddies is completely different
Furthermore... You must continue to stay in contact with the individuals that have left an impression or that you know could potentially assist you along your journeys
Another Important Step:
Post to making that impression, you must follow up with some form of sincere gesture. Most of us choose the Card route, but I have found a greater success in paying particular attention to what the person discussed and getting something more personalized.
Now your wondering, Damn I would go broke if I do this with everyone! Of course your not gonna do this with everyone, but those that make a big impact you should definitely show your appreciation.
So Re-Cap
- Sell Yourself in the right light
- Keep an open line of communication ( self explanatory)
- Follow up with a nice gesture
Signing off ....
