Large Companies vs Small Companies

The age old question..

Should I work for a Large Company or Small Company?


I have worked for both Large Organizations and Small Organizations and...



There are their advantages and disadvantages




Small companies

Advantages
  • Intricate piece of the Company Aka Valuable Employee
    • Your daily contributions are key to the companies success
    • It takes roughly 2 months to find a replacement and cost the company about 4-5 months to truly replace your position
  • Ability to get more $$$
  • Job Security
  • Flexibility in Company Policy
    • Not as strict with dress code and overall day-to-day activities
  • More individual Focus 
Disadvantages
  • Long Hours (Typically Over worked)
  • Typically Underpaid 
  • Lack of Documentation on procedures
    • But typically are required to know these regardless of the paper trail

Large Companies

Advantages
  • Better Organizational structure
    • Your position is understood and respected 
  • Path for growth is mapped out (Depending on company)
  • Competitive salary
    • Typically better salaries and benefits than smaller companies
  • Larger Incentives (especially in sales)
Disadvantages
  • Must go through leaps and bounds to get approval for projects
  • Your Expendable/ Replaceable 
    • any time you can be let go because your not truly an asset unless you have 
As you can see each have their own advantages and disadvantages. There is no "best" choice

Truthfully it all boils down to...

 What works for YOU

Are personalities mend well to either Smaller Companies or Larger Companies
